Summer is a wonderful season and it's almost here! The weather will be warm, the days are getting longer, school will be out, and many people will take vacation. When you live in New England, you don’t have to travel far to have a great summer adventure. I asked my fellow Hebert colleagues about their summer plans and was very inspired.
One Hebert sports enthusiast is looking forward to going to Fenway Park in Boston to watch the Red Sox play America’s pastime. Nothing says “summer” like baseball.
Last summer, a Hebert hiker conquered the epic Mount Washington with her family. If you love hiking but can’t make it all the way to New Hampshire, Wachusett Mountain in Princeton is a great place to hit the trails, plus they have all kinds of fun events during the summer.
I don’t think it’s possible to grow up in New England without traveling back in time to the 1830s with your family or friends to Old Sturbridge Village at least once. This living history museum is constantly doing different things; no 2 visits are the same!
A Hebert art connoisseur really enjoys the beauty of deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum in Lincoln, MA. It’s an incredibly unique place with both permanent and temporary exhibits.
And of course, our Candy Mansion right here in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts is a great place to bring your family this summer. In addition to the sweet experience of visiting our store (which includes an ice cream sundae bar), we are thrilled to be bringing back our outdoor ice cream window! It’s the perfect treat to cool off on a summer day, and it will stay open when Cruzzin’ Dreams has their car shows. Or if you’re looking for a structured activity to do with a whole group of children, our candy camps are a great place for the kids to learn some chocolate history and make some candy crafts.
Summer is almost here in Massachusetts, it’s time to have some fun!

This past May, Hebert Candies sent a team to the Sweets & Snacks Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago for the 4th year in a row. This 19 year old show is hosted by the National Confectioners Association and this year held more than 720 companies and 16,000 industry professionals from nearly 90 countries.
No one knows exactly how or when fudge was first invented, but culinary legend says it was likely produced by accident in the United States sometime in the nineteenth century.
The main ingredients are sugar, butter, and milk. Here at the Hebert Candy Mansion we still make it the old fashioned way; by hand in small batches in our copper kettles. We love fudge, so we’ve decided to put together some fun facts about it for you to enjoy.
Recently, many health magazines have been touting that chocolate, in contained quantities, can actually be good for you. Or that eating a small dessert (like chocolate) at every meal can help you loose weight, and keep your sugar cravings at bay.
So we decided to do a little digging, and we've put together these 10 reasons why we think chocolate is good for you. Enjoy!
